Driven by curiosity. Driving change

Biography

Dr Shelly Singh-Gryzbon leads the Computational Biofluid Mechanics group in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. Her research integrates engineering and medicine to improve how cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases are treated.

Shelly obtained her BSc in Chemical and Process Engineering from The University of the West Indies in 2009, and completed both her MSc (2011) and PhD (2016) in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London.

She joined the University of Cambridge in 2023 and is an Official Fellow of Clare Hall and a Director of Studies at Fitzwilliam College.

Research interests
  • Fluid dynamics and structural mechanics
  • Computational modelling and simulation
  • Cardiovascular and neurovascular disease and treatment
  • Medical device design and optimisation
  • Personalised and image-based treatment planning

Dr Singh-Gryzbon’s group develops computational and physics-based models to address real-world challenges in cardiovascular and neurovascular health. Their work spans heart valve disease, transcatheter devices, cerebral aneurysms, stroke interventions, and medical device optimisation, translating engineering insights into personalised treatments and improved clinical outcomes.
